Thought for the Day

If you have any doubts that we live in a society controlled by men, try reading down the index of contributors to a volume of quotations, looking for women's names.

Creating a Coaching Culture

Culture is the hidden nine tenths below the surface of any organization.

You do not see it, but it has the strongest influence on performance.

It determines how well any change will work. Companies want a culture that supports high performance, good work and good working relationships. However you cannot force a culture, it has to be created with care.

For coaching to work, it has to be supported by a coaching culture.

Business coaching will not work well unless:

  • It is led from the top
  • People are committed
  • The managers want coaching
  • Coaching is perceived as a reward and not something to fix faulty managers.
  • People can see the value of coaching.
